CCTV Crawler inspection

A drainage CCTV survey is a process for examining the condition of drainage systems with the use of a remote crawler or pushrod camera system that provides the site engineers with a real time visual to capture data.

The technology is an essential tool for inspecting and surveying underground sewers, drains, culverts and other drainage assets safely and quickly.

We use a number of different types of survey equipment depending on the size of the pipe, if the atmosphere is hazardous, the water level or the location of the pipe.

What type of issues can a CCTV survey find?

There are a number of issues that can cause issues with your drainage system that ranges from easy to solve such as soft blockages or scale build-up, to much more series problems like a collapsed pipe. A drain survey is a quick, non-invasive and cost-effective way to identify any current problems or potential problems in the future like open joints, a build up of silt or ingress of roots.

Our surveys can identify the following:

Blockages

Leaks

Displaced Joints

Root Ingress

Corrosion

Scale/Silt build up

Poor Installation

Pest invasion

What CCTV surveys are used for

Remote CCTV technology allows date to be gathered safely.

CCTV surveys are vital to planned preventative maintenance (PPM) programmes allowing the owner of the assets to manage cost and avoid future issues.

Investigate drainage issues such as blockages, poor flow rates and pollution incidents.

Drain connectivity can be identified for future construction projects and provide vital information for designers and hydraulic modellers.

Pre-adoption condition inspections allowing the building contractors to ascertain asset condition before their client takes responsibility for the assets.

The survey team may work in conjunction with a jetting team to show the pipework has been cleaned.

 How are drain surveys undertaken

Our friendly and helpful office staff will arrange a suitable time and date for one of our engineers to visit your site or property.

The team will investigate the drainage around your property and gain suitable access where one of our remote crawlers or pushrod systems will be installed to give our engineers a visual of the pipework where they will record the footage into our industry approved software. The software will produce a drainage report and will be provided with site photographs, plans and any recommendations to repair or prevent any future issues.

 Equipment

We have a range of equipment that allow us to survey pipes from 32mm to 2000mm

The cameras have powerful LED lights with pan and tilt and zoom cameras which are controlled by the operator through the console. The video footage and photographs are HD-quality.

The cameras mount onto the crawler units which are adaptable depending on the size of the pipe, the water level or location. The operators can change wheel size, wheel length, height to suit the vary conditions our equipment can find itself in.

Push rod cameras are for the smaller diameters where bends or vertical pipes prevent the robotic crawler cameras accessing. The mini cam heads have powerful LED lights with between 60m and 120m of flexible rod.

Unlike most drainage companies we also have fully remote CCTV equipment that doesn’t require a vehicle or generator for power meaning we can take it any where.
